20 Orphaned Horses Need Homes

“If anyone knows of someone who would be interested in fostering or adopt an orphan foal they will not need milk replacer they will be 3-6 months old so would be on hay and they have just lost their moms to slaughter there are about 20 in need of a place to go.

Please let me know ASAP of anyone can take one or more of these little guys and they must be 100% SURE they can take the baby!!! They can foster thru UAWR and have a tax write off for all expenses or they can adopt thru UAWR with no strings attached other then to provide a good home and do not send to auction or slaughter.”

Contact Courtney From UAWR at tnttrainingcenterATyahoo.com if you can help in any
way.

There is always a need for donations and sponsors, please click on the UAWR button on the side of my blog to help.

Trying to pass along the word of two horses in need of foster homes. My friend Courtney who runs Under the Angel’s Wings Rescue is putting out this request.

These horses need help!

“Cody is a 12 year old approx 15 hand Quarter horse gelding who is broke to ride english or western and has mainly been trail ridden. He is very sweet and kind but has not been ridden in a few months so needs to get back in shape. His owners are moving out of state and need to place him ASAP. He can go as a Foster horse thru UAWR or he can be adopted. (He is the Bay one in the pics)

His buddy is a 7 year old approx 15 hand Quarter Horse cross. She has had all her ground work but has not been ridden at this point. She too needs a foster home or adoptive home by Friday also.  (She is the Chestnut One in the pics)
If you would be interested in sponsoring, fostering, or adopting one or both of these horses please email me ASAP as we are VERY short on time here.”
Horses are located in Southern California (Phelan, CA). Courtney can be reached via email: Courtney@uawr.com

Searching for Worthy Causes

I’m looking for verifiable, reputable, and worthy causes to blog about and to feature on my site. I know I don’t get a ton of reads but every person makes a difference! Two that are currently on my site are Under the Angel’s Wings Rescue- a horse rescue in Phelan, CA and Invisible Children who are helping bring the plight of the children in war torn Uganda to the world stage.

I could Google charities and just use those, but I want to make sure that they’re real charities doing real work for real problems in this world. Also I’d rather have some connection to the charities/causes than just to pick one out of the search engine hat.

So, if you have a story, a charity, a cause that’s close to your heart please let me know! Either find me on twitter @strawbrykiwi (<– that’s me!) or email me: strawbrykiwicake AT gmail DOT com .

My dear friend Courtney is back in the hospital. She has an infection in her ankle, there are more surgeries and even skin grafts. I mentioned her a few posts back: “Remember to be Grateful for Everyday.” She runs Under the Angel’s Wings Rescue- the horse rescue down in Southern California. She’s so much more than that though, she’s a Mom, and she’s my very very dear friend. Please pray for her, send her good thoughts, good vibes….

I found out via her facebook status: …” asking for all my prayer warriors out there to say a prayer for my ankle!!! The infection is down to the bone, I have huge open wounds now and will be here in the hospital for at least 2 weeks. Looking at a few more surgeries next one coming on Monday , a whole lotta pain, and skin graphing procedures.”

I don’t know how things are going in the way of volunteers, I do know that donations are very welcome (please click to donate- any amount is welcome) Because Courtney is in the hospital right now she can’t be on the grounds to orientate new volunteers so please be patient if it also takes time to get back to you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please, please do send good thoughts/prayers/vibes her way. Thank you so very much. ♥

Great way to start the New Year giving- even a few dollars helps!

There are many horses at Under the Angel’s Wings Rescue who are in need of sponsors! When you sponsor the horses you help Under the Angel’s Wings Rescue pay for feed and for re-homing costs.

To All Our Faithful Readers…

I want to take this time to say thank you to all of those who have been here to support UAWR through the years. We have had many ups and downs along with obstacles to conquer but together we all continue to conquer those obstacles.  Without each and every one of you we could not have accomplished the things we have.  Even if you only donated a little bit of time, or $10 dollars…however you were able to help, it is greatly appreciated and we continue to need you and your help as we move into a new year of helping the horses.

My position in rescuing is somewhat going to be taking a different position for the up and coming year in 2010.  I am asking all of you to help me out in finding adoptive homes for the horses we have currently here at UAWR.  As many of you have heard last week I was involved in a head-on auto accident where the oncoming car swerved into my lane and hit myself and my two kids head on.  My kids are very banged up, bruised, scared, and emotional over the situation but over all it seems as if other then bruises they are both ok.  Myself, on the other hand I am still saying THANK YOU Lord for watching over us as it could have been SOOO much worse being a head-on collision, but I have some BIG bruises and a dislocated and broken ankle.  My ankle bone that is crushed is the Talus which is your major weight bearing bone of the foot. According to my doctor there are like 3 bones in the body you DON’T want to break and the Talus is one of them.

Again I am thankful to be alive but also looking at 6 months or more before I can walk again.  Thank you to everyone for all your thoughts and prayers!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!!!  Courtney Hobson – President – UAWR

UAWR Foster Care Program – We Need Your Help!

Become a foster parent of a horse residing at UAWR by joining our Foster Care Program.  There are many benefits to becoming a foster parent:
1)  This program allows both adults and children to bond to a horse of their choice for a period of time while they learn about horse care, grooming, feeding, and cost of ownership. This program is a worthy first step to horse ownership.
2)  This program also allows someone the opportunity to have a horse without the initial financial burden of buying their own.  3)  Provides someone to give the horse personal love, attention and exercise; and, 4)  Helps support the financial needs of the horse. If you’re not sure about whether you want another horse or any horse, consider fostering one or two.  Even if you don’t ride but you really enjoy taking care of horses, consider adopting or fostering a companion horse (or two).  Also, our Sponsorship Program is available to individuals who want to make a difference but cannot adopt or foster.  We also need people to work these horses and get them in shape for potential adoption homes. Under the Angel’s Wings Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization – expenses such as feed, farrier care, etc., are tax deductible. For more information, please contact Courtney at: courtney@uawr.com or (951) 318-2275.
